On 31 August 2026, meditators gathered in Greenwich, London, for an evening of Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation (TWIM) with Venerable Obhāsa.
In the midst of the busy city, we came together to pause, settle the mind, and practise loving-kindness.
The guided meditation invited us to gently turn our attention towards peace. Rather than trying to force the mind to become calm, we were encouraged to recognise and appreciate the peacefulness that was already present.
One particularly meaningful part of the guidance was the reminder that we can begin to experience peace within just a few minutes of sincere practice. There was no need to wait for a special state or for the mind to become completely still. By gently returning to the meditation and allowing ourselves to relax, peace could gradually become more apparent.
For many of us, this was a beautiful reminder that peace is not something that has to be created or searched for. Through mindfulness, loving-kindness, and letting go, we can learn to recognise it directly through our own experience.
The evening was a simple but precious opportunity to practise together, share the Dhamma, and experience the quietness that can arise when the mind is given space to settle.
We are grateful to everyone who joined us and to Venerable Obhāsa for her compassionate guidance.
May the peace cultivated through our practice continue to accompany us in our everyday lives.
May all beings be happy, peaceful, and free.
Sādhu! Sādhu! Sādhu!
